Padma awardess 2016 - India

Here is the list of PadmaShri,PadmaBhusan and Padma Vibhushan awardees of 2016.

I will discuss how they deserve the highest awards of the country in my next posts.The most talked about on the list are obviously Ramoji Rao,Rajnikanth,Yamini Krishnamurthy, Shri Shri Ravi Shankar,Saina Nehwal, Udit Narayan,Sania Mirza,Anupam Kher,Swami Dayananda Saraswathi,Girija Devi, Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad to name a few.

Padma Vibhushan

1. Rajinikanth - Most popular film actor of South India who has acted in more than 150 films and in various indian languages. He started his career as a bus conductor and is now a Padma Vibhusan.His original name is Shivaji Rao Gaekwad.

2. Ramoji Rao - A famous film producer,businessman,educationist and media entrepreneur. Started his career as a small producer in South Indian film industry and has now been a Padma Vibhushan. He owns the world's largest film city - Ramoji Film City where most of films of Indian and Hollywood are shoot.Bahubali,India's top budget motion film is also made here.He also started many educational institutions in Andhra Pradesh, where most of the heading to IIT,IIM,NIT,BITS PILANI are educated. He has also been a media tycoon of South with his Eenadu Newspaper. Also been a good businessman owning Margadarshi Chit Funds, widely known in South India.

3. Jagmohan - A retired civil servant,who started his career as a track engineer in Indian Railways is now a Padma Vibhushan.He also worked as  Lieutenant Governor Delhi, Goa, Governor Jammu & Kashmir.He served as Telecom & Communication Minister in Atal Bihari Vajpayee government.

4. Shri Shri Ravi Shankar - He is the founder of Art of Living Foundation, through which he worked on many societal problems and conducted many programs to relieve individuals of these modern day stress activities through meditation and spreading spiritual awareness.He also conducted free health camps across India.

5. Yamini Krishnamurthy - Popular dancer of Bharatnatyam and kuchipudi dance forms.She was born in Andhra Pradesh. She was a resident dancer of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam.She teaches dance lessons at her institute - Yamini School of Dance.

6. Girija Devi - Born in Varanasi, she is classical singer of the Banaras Gharana.She started her career with All India Radio.She also served as faculty at ITC Sangeet Research Academy.She sings in the Banaras gharana and performs the purabi ang thumri style.

7. V K Aatre - Satrted his career as a professor at Technical University of Nova Scotia. He joined DRDO in 1980, where he served as Director and  also as Chief Controller(R&D).

8. Dhirubhai Ambani - Founder of Reliance Industries, he started his career in a petrol bunk in Yemen and founded RIL after returning to India.He also featured in The Sunday Times top 50 businessmen in Asia.

9. Avinash Dixit - He is an Economist. He is a professor at Princeton University.He was President of the Economic Society.He also served as Vice-President and also President of the American Economic Association.

10. Viswanathan Shanta - Cancer specialist, who is also a winner of Magasaysay Award.
